IFU RANKED AS BEST PERFORMING IN HUMAN RIGHTS STUDY OF LARGE DANISH FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

In a new human rights report from Danish Institute for Human Rights, IFU is ranked as the best performing among 22 of the largest private Danish financial institutions.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this report, and we see it as a blueprint of the effort we are making in relation to integrating the human right aspects in our sustainability framework and our investments in developing countries and emerging economies,” said Mikkel Kallesøe, SVP for Sustainability and Impact.

The report provides a benchmark of human rights policies and self-reported due diligence practices based on 8 indicators. These are derived from the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and existing human rights benchmark initiatives such as the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark. Although IFU received the highest score, there are also areas for IFU to improve in the future.

IFU published its first Human Rights Policy in 2019, and will publish an updated policy in 2024, which includes the improvements that IFU has already implemented in its practice in the collaboration with its investee companies on human rights due diligence.

The new policy will also include more information on IFU’s internal responsibility and resources on human rights, which is the indicator where IFU received the lowest score from DIHR’s benchmarking.
