In 2022, IFU invested approx. USD 43 million in Òrigo Energia, a market leader within distributed solar PV generation in Brazil. Presently, IFU and other investors in the company are joined by I Squared Capital investing up to USD 400 million in Òrigo Energia.
“We are very pleased to welcome I Squared as a co-investor in Òrigo Energia. This will further boost solar power in Brazil and speed up the growth trajectory of the company, which has more than doubled its generation capacity and customer base, since IFU invested in 2022. With the current expansion of the equity base, we can take Òrigo Energia to the next level.”
Natalia Svejgaard, Investment Director at IFU.
Origo Energia owns more than 300 MWp of solar power assets, and services more than 100,000 residential customers as well as small and medium enterprises. The new investment will further accelerate the construction of solar farms and expand services to thousands of customers across more than 20 states in Brazil in the coming years.
The company typically builds 1-2,5 MWp solar plants and provides the energy to its clients on subscription basis. This innovative business model helps customers to obtain reliable electricity supply from a renewable source and reduce their electricity bill.
