IFU is an independent, self-governing fund associated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Minister for Development Cooperation appoints the Fund’s board of directors and its managing director.

In all other matters, IFU is a self-governing institution with a special obligation and commitment to conduct proper management conduct, high environmental standards and social responsibility in relation to investment projects in developing countries.
