Hong Jiang, 41, Head of IFU’s office in Beijing is specialized in China, and in electronics, plastic and shoe production as well as other consumer products.
“With my Danish as well as my Chinese background IFU is the best platform I could have”, says Hong Jiang, who, a part from having lived in Denmark for 10 years, holds a masters degree in economics from Denmark and has had Danish citizenship since 1999. “I make project appraisal and assist Danish companies establish themselves in China. My studies and time in Denmark is of invaluable importance when assisting Danish companies to be successful in China. It is interesting to use my know-how and expertise in order to help the companies from their first hesitant steps till the time when “they can walk by themselves”.
And indeed usually Danish companies do well: “Of course there are companies which end up having to quit China. But the majority of the companies we help in China do very well.”
To Hong IFU’s objective to create development by transferring knowledge and creating jobs in countries with a foreign culture makes the task interesting. “The next challenge will be to support Danish companies when establishing themselves in the poorer areas of Western China, which are in need of development. We need to be even better at advising the small and medium sized companies, as establishment in a foreign country is particularly demanding for this type of companies.”
